Lack of facilities, economic hardship, social pressure and lack of teacher training are major contributing factors to these circumstances. We use computer technology to entice children to stay in school and teach them critical thinking skills.

These countries have two of the highest student-teacher ratios in the world. With no formal teacher training, the situation becomes even worse. Children of Tomorrow creates and delivers tailored teacher training programs. It follows a new, modern curriculum, using One Laptop Per Child. Our trainers visit the schools frequently, followed by a close monitoring of teacher and student progress.

This percentage represents the Nepalese children who are fortunate enough to have any formal education. Nepal has one of the lowest school enrollment rates in the world. 25% of girls have never set foot inside a school, and only 27% of Nepalese women are literate.

The project under review will have the objective of equipping the school with 75 laptops and providing face-to-face teacher training. All the machines run on solar power, so we are free from depending on grid electricity. Two teacher training sessions - one in spring and one in fall - will ensure the program's continued success.

Orangi town, Sindh, and Pind Malkan, Punjab, both face difficult problems. We donated 100 laptops given to these two schools. The children work with great dedication and guard their laptops with their lives. Since receiving their laptops, student evaluation shows improved decision-making and increased communication. Phonics, math and logic are now serious business.

We’re planning a series of fundraising events for the 2010 fall season in New York City, including yoga, squash, the New York Marathon and karaoke nights.
